Taaruf questions

This list was created by both of my parents and I before my taaruf session (which relates closely with this entry)

1. Family backgrounds
  • where parents originated from.
  • siblings
  • hometown
  • health issues - self and parents.
2. His background
  • academic
  • work experience
  • health
Questions 1 & 2 can help answering issues of compatibility

3. Plans/Visions in
  • 1 year
  • 5 years
  • 10 years
  • old age
Question 3 can help you know him better, knowing his plans or 'plan-lessness', how his brain works, realistic person, over ambitious, etc. If you have the same or totally different visions, can you compromise?

4. Interests
  • hobbies, specific things he wants to share so that the other half wont be shocked after marriage.

5. Dislikes
  • Intolerable/ tolerable yikes - food, behaviour, in a wife, specific personality (if any of the dislikes mentioned are yours or your family members, we could make a wise, calculated decision, then), any phobia.
 6. Wishes
  • in his wife
  • in his marriage
Questions 4,5 & 6 will help answer some big questions 'Am I the one?', 'Can I tolerate?', 'Is he the one?', 'Can he tolerate me?' and these questions can actually highlight some 'faith' issues as well.

7. Why me?

WARNING:
If you want to ask these questions, be prepared to answer them, too. The other person might want to know the same thing about you, too!

Author's note:
Though these questions are very straightforward and might be very personal and sensitive to ask during the first meeting, they are essential questions that can actually clear your doubts - clear cut YES or NO. No need to waste our time going out for 'datings' to get to know one another. For all you know, even after hundreds of encounters with each other, these questions might not be answered! And regrets after marriage? Na'uzubillah!
